Fun Facts

• We met online via a Meetup Group. Do you remember Meetup.com? 
• We’re a blended family of 4. (Ah’vian is Terrell’s bonus baby…but you could never tell). 
• We’ve only broken up for 72 hours during our entire relationship. We may need to blog about that 72. hours. LOL!  
• We moved in together after two months of dating.
• We were engaged after eight months of dating. The best gift a girl could get on her 30th birthday!

So, what is this blog all about?

We’re on a mission to help build black wealth. Why just the black community? *great question* The simple answer is the average net worth of Black households is $12,920 compared to non-hispanic white households’ average of $143,600. 

That is the simple answer. The compounded answer is racial injustice, systemic oppression, corporate structures that were never designed with us (blacks) in mind. As we all know, 2020 was a year for the books. It was also a year of enlightenment. 

We realized that we could be part of the solution by simply sharing our debt free and wealth building journey.  Like you, we see the highlight reels of everyone’s success story. We don’t see the behind the scenes or the steps they took to get there. We want to change that. 

Our journey started in 2018 and we’ve garnered (pun intended) much success.  In just 18 months we reduced our debt by $136,000. We’re now ready to step into wealth building! At first we were going to wait until we were debt free. Then COVID hit and we said, “why make our wealth wait”. (employers ain’t loyal).

So, here we are! This blog will chronicle and document our journey to wealth and the lessons learned. We will: 

• Share as we learn and grow! We learn and give you the cliff notes version.
• Chronicle our journey into the Real Estate Investment world. (Real Estate is the one consistent vehicle that produces millionaires!) 
• Share inspirational thoughts, videos, and posts that hopefully inspire you to take action to begin building wealth for you and your family.

Garnering Wealth is about collecting wealth in love, faith, family, and (of course) finances.
